Edo Security Network Member Kills Okada Rider Over N100 Bribe
There are reports that a member of the Edo State Security Network has allegedly caused the death of a commercial motorcycle rider, Abdulazeez Sani, for refusing to pay a N100 bribe to the local security agent in Edo State.
Midwest Herald learnt that the incident happened at Ogbiyokho area, a suburb in Benin City, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.
It was gathered that the commercial motorcycle was stopped by the vigilante who had mounted a checkpoint at the Ojemai farm along Ekenmwan road, near army barracks and demanded N100.
It was further gathered that the rider reportedly told the vigilante that he had earlier paid N100 to them but the vigilante told him that so long as he was plying the road, he must pay anytime he passed the checkpoint.
It was gathered that an argument ensued as the rider refused to pay the N100 and in the process the vigilante reportedly descended on the rider with stick and in the process, beat him to a pulp.
The vigilante thereafter run away leaving the Okada ridder in the pool of blood
He was there rushed to a nearby hospital to Nigerian Army barracks but by last Friday January 6, 2024, he gave up the ghost.
The unfortunate incident led to protest by some commercial motorcycle riders in the area. Midwest Herald learnt that, some members of the Edo State Security Network have been arrested by the police.
The Edo State Police command is yet to make official statement on the incident at press time.
