The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to Senator Ehigie Uzamere’s comments against Senator Monday Okpebholo, the gubernatorial candidate of the party.

The APC said in a statement issued today by the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Osehobo Victor Ofure, that Uzamere’s comments is disappointing, going by his history of electoral defeats.

“Former Senator Ehigie Edobor Uzamere’s recent remarks on the upcoming 2024 Edo State governorship election are disappointing, given his lack of credibility and personal agenda.

“Uzamere’s history of electoral defeats and confrontational behavior is well-known among Edo residents, casting doubt on the validity of his claims.

“Additionally, derogatory labels like ‘mune mune joker’ during campaigns further diminish his standing as a political figure,” the statement said.

APC added that, Uzamere’s inability to contribute to the development of Edo State when he served as two-term senator makes him inappropriate to speak on the right person to govern the state.

“Moreover, Uzamere’s endorsement of Asue Ighodalo is short-sighted and condemnable, considering his own shortcomings and involvement in the state’s political challenges.

“His inability to contribute meaningfully to discussions about Edo’s future, due to his association with the failures of the Godwin Obaseki administration, undermines the legitimacy of his opinions.

“In evaluating the future leadership of Edo State, it’s crucial for residents to consider Uzamere’s track record and motives, ensuring that decisions are made with the best interests of the state in mind and not the former senator’s personal interest.”

An online publication reportedly quoted Senator Ehigie Uzamere as having said that: “Listening to Senator Monday Okpebholo in this video, definitely he is not the man of our dreams.”
