The twenty-four members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have resolved to impeach the governor of River State, Mr. Sim Fubara on the allegation of sponsoring thugs to burn the assembly complex.

All 24 members are now meeting in a secured place within the complex.

A close source to the former governor of Rivers State, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory confided in Midwest Herald that “Wike has accepted the challenge thrown at him by his political godson and successor an will not run away from him.”

Earlier, the House Leader – Hon Edison Ehie, was removed from his position by all 24 members. They accused him for the fire outbreak at the House of Assembly Complex on Sunday night.

The Assembly Complex was set ablaze by hoodlums but efforts by the Federal Fire Service and security agencies stopped the fire from spreading.

Midwest Herald learnt that the Speaker has served an impeachment notice on Governor Fubara.

The complex is under the control security agents, while a fire truck was also seen on the grounds of the facility.

It is not yet clear what may have strained the relationship between Mr. Nysome Wike and Mr Fabura.

Meanwhile, the governor has dissolved the local government administration in Rivers State with immediate effect.
