Olumide Akpata Overcomes Edo Government Meddling, Picks LP Guber Ticket

Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, 51 years old Nigerian legal practitioner, politician and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA has emerged winner of the Labour Party governorship primary conducted today, Friday 23, 2024 at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Benin City.

The embulent lawyer defeated his closest opponent, Kenneth Imansuangbon on his road to victory.

LP Guber Candidate, Akpata

Before venturing into politics in 2023, Akpata was a senior partner and the Head of Corporate and Commercial Practice Group at Templars law firm in Nigeria.

The LP governorship flag bearer is the first non-Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 28 years to be elected president of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Akpata was trailed with a suspicion that he was a place holder for Governor Obaseki’s unnamed aspirant but had succeeded to demonstrate his independence in several of his public presentations.

The LP candidate comes into the governorship contest with an advantage of leader of the opposition.
