NWFL Hails Edo Queens’ WAFU-B Triumph, Says Victory Makes Nigeria Proud

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has congratulated Edo Queens Football Club on their historic triumph at the 2026 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifying Tournament, describing the achievement as a testament to the club’s hard work, discipline, teamwork and commitment to excellence.

In a congratulatory letter dated September 7, 2026 and signed by the NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, the league body said Edo Queens’ victory and qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League had brought immense honour to Edo State and made the Nigerian women’s football family proud.

The NWFL said the Edo Queens’ performance on the regional stage had once again demonstrated the quality, talent and competitive strength of Nigerian women’s football.

The league body noted that, as reigning champions of the NWFL Premiership, Edo Queens had continued to demonstrate why Nigeria remains a leading force in African women’s football.

According to the letter, the club’s success also serves as an inspiration to young girls and women across the country, while reinforcing Nigeria’s position on the continent.

The NWFL commended the players, technical crew, management, supporters and other stakeholders for their collective contribution to what it described as a historic achievement.

“We are confident that you will carry the same determination and winning spirit into the CAF Women’s Champions League,” the NWFL stated.The league body further assured Edo Queens of its continued support as the club prepares to represent Nigeria and the WAFU-B zone at the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The NWFL expressed confidence that the team would build on its regional success and achieve further glory on the continental stage.

The letter concluded with another congratulatory message to the Edo-based champions, wishing them “every success” in their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign.
