Enyimba chairman and former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo, has charged the club’s players to justify the privilege of representing the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions by delivering positive results.

Kanu, who spoke to the players following Enyimba’s goalless draw against Akwa United in Uyo, stressed that success and results must remain the priority for the Aba-based club.

The former Arsenal and Inter Milan forward reminded the players that Enyimba is a big club and, as such, they must rise to the expectations that come with wearing the club’s colours.

“The club is big, the players must be big and the result must be big as well,” Kanu told the players.

“The sweetest thing in Enyimba is result,” he added.

Kanu’s remarks come as Enyimba prepare for the new NPFL campaign after a difficult 2025/26 season in which the Aba giants narrowly avoided relegation on the final day.

The nine-time league champions will hope for a stronger campaign this season, beginning with an away fixture against Niger Tornadoes in Minna.

The encounter is expected to provide an early test of Enyimba’s resolve as the club seeks to return to the upper reaches of the NPFL table.
