Dr. Earl Osaro Onaiwu, one of those remaining in the race to pick the sole ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 21, 2024 Governorship Election in Edo State has classified those that reportedly stepped down for Mr. Asue Ighodalo as not serious contenders who were merely consulting leaders of the party.

Dr. Onaiwu stated this today January 7, 2024, in a statement, while reacting to Midwest Herald’s earlier story of some PDP aspirants – Marcus Ononbu and Senator Clifford Odia who had stepped down for Asue Ighodalo at the instance of Tom Ikimi.

“To be considered an Aspirant of a political party like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) you must have purchased the Expression of Interest Form at least. Then attend a screening of the aspirants for the governorship seat by the National Working Committee before purchasing the nomination form.

“None of the people that have been mentioned to have stepped down in PDP are aspirants.

“Such news must be disregarded. These are cheap political points by some people trying to force an unpopular person down our throats.

“Those that are rumoured to have stepped down where only consulting party members and were not real contenders.

“The Sales of expression form will be available to purchase soon, then we will know those who mean business.” Dr. Earl Osaro Onaiwu said in a statement sent to Midwest Herald.
