Nothing demonstrates and summarises the precarious political and socio-structural situation of Benin Nation today, as the rush by many of our leaders to handover political powers, in the coming gubernatorial election without a firm, focussed, and formal negotiated agreements or understanding of what will happen to Edo South economic interests, after election.

In the past few months, many of the political parties have been jubilantly campaigning with no specific references to what they will do specifically in Edo South, along with other parts of the state, where the bulk of the oil revenues oiling the wheels of developments in the State spring from.

Nobody is talking with specificity what he will do differently to make Edo State- Benin City benefit from the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal railway line.

Nobody is talking about how Benin City will benefit from the ongoing multi lanes Lagos-Calabar Express Road.

Nobody is talking about the completion of the Benin River Port.

Nobody is talking about Tayo Akpata University of Education. Nobody is talking about dualization of Benin-Iguobazuwa, Benin-Abraka and Benin-Gelegele Roads.

Nobody is talking about the unceasing menace of land grabbers and resurgent CDAs. Nobody is specific about anything South!

We want specific agreements on these issues, because executive powers are not ice-cream you donate capriciously.

It’s not a reward to friends for loyalty, because It’s more profound in misapplications and dangerous in the wrong hands.

We want specific answers to these questions. Now!
