Edo South 2027: Imasuen Disowns Okojie Poster, Warns of Legal Action

Senator Neda Imasuen has disowned a political poster circulating ahead of the 2027 Edo South Senatorial District election, describing the use of his photograph and name in the publication as “mischievous” and misleading.
Imasuen, in a disclaimer issued in response to the poster, clarified that he is not the candidate of the Labour Party or any other political party for the 2027 general election.
He said he neither authorised the use of his photograph, name nor identity in the publication nor consented to being presented as a contender in the forthcoming senatorial election.
According to him, the use of his photograph alongside purported contenders for the Edo South senatorial seat could create confusion among members of the public regarding his current political status and intentions.
The senator also recalled that he had earlier publicly accepted the outcome of the relevant political process, stressing that he had not authorised the subsequent deployment of his image in political materials suggesting otherwise.
Imasuen consequently warned Prince Omokhodion Okojie, as well as the sponsors and persons responsible for the publication, to desist from further using his name, photograph or identity for mischievous political activities.
He described such use as an attempt to associate him with a political narrative with which he is not connected, warning that he would not allow his reputation and identity to be exploited for such purposes.
“Any further unauthorised use of my name, image or identity will be viewed seriously and may attract appropriate legal action,” the senator warned.
He urged members of the public to distinguish his actual political position from claims or representations contained in political materials in which his photograph is used without his authorisation.
The controversy follows the circulation of a poster on the 2027 Edo South senatorial contest featuring Imasuen among other individuals described as major contenders for the seat.
