According to an African proverb, the person who pelts another with pebbles ask for stones in return. Yet another says – “If you carry the egg basket, do not dance!’

So it seems for the presidential candidate of Atiku Abubakar, who has been crossed-petitioned to the Supreme Court of Nigeria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu who has been facing barrage of attack from the camp of Atiku and PDP, has filed a counter-appeal at the Supreme Court, levelling serious accusations against his political rival, Atiku Abubakar.

Tinubu is alleging that the PDP standard bearer submitted fake certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a situation which may disqualify him from being regarded as candidate in the last presidential election.

Part of the allegations is that Atiku may have used certificates of third party as they all bear different names.

The latest hostility comes after Atiku lost his attempt to sack Tinubu as president of Nigeria. Atiku thereafter wrote to the Chicago State University to verify Tinubu’s diploma, which CSU authenticated, but not satisfied, Atiku appealed the Presidential Election Tribunal to the Supreme Court, insisting that Tinibu summited fake CSU diploma to INEC.

According to the court papers, Tinubu’s legal team are insisting that Atiku has a chameleon-like educational record, as he used the name “Atiku Kojoli” on his primary school certificate and the name “Siddiq Abubakar” on his 1965 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) certificate.
