Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has raised concerns over the disappearance of 3,900 firearms said to belong to the Nigeria Police Force. He is demanding accountability from the police authorities.

The no nonsense Senator made the demand during a Senate session investigating the missing arms. Oshiomhole lamented the lack of transparency surrounding the disappearance.

Oshiomhole stressed that, “what is worrisome is that this money used to procure arms for the purpose of protecting Nigerians by the trained Nigerian police force is now lost.

“You have an obligation not only to disclose but also to apprehend, parade, and name such persons.

“This country must operate under the same level of rule of law.”

A police officer had said during the hearing that they are unable to find the arms after 30 days.

“We find that for thirty days these arms consistently have not been recorded and the books have been returned, therefore, it is deemed to have been lost,” one of the police officers in charge of the arms said.
