Osun State turned predominantly yellow on the emerging results map as voters, party supporters and political observers awaited the final declaration of the 2026 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The latest provisional figures used in the running collation show Accord Party candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as results from the state’s 30 local government areas continue to be collated.

According to the running figures, Accord has polled 452,072 votes, representing 51.8 per cent, while APC has recorded 373,003 votes, or 42.8 per cent.

The figures put Accord ahead by 79,069 votes in the provisional tally.

The accompanying results map shows Accord leading in 21 of the 30 LGAs, with those areas highlighted in yellow, while APC leads in nine LGAs, marked red.

Among the areas where Accord is ahead are Osogbo, Ife East, Ede North, Ede South, Iwo, Ife Central, Ifelodun, Odo-Otin, Ejigbo, Ilesa West, Oriade, Ila, Orolu, Egbedore, Isokan, Ife North, Ifedayo, Aiyedire, Ife South, Aiyedaade and Odo-Otin, according to the running figures.

APC, meanwhile, is ahead in Olorunda, Irewole, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Ilesa East, Atakunmosa East, Ola-Oluwa and Atakunmosa West.

The running collation indicates that results from 3,292 of the state’s 3,763 polling units—87.5 per cent—had been uploaded to the INEC IReV platform in the snapshot being tracked.

The development has heightened anticipation across the state, with supporters of both major contenders monitoring the remaining results and waiting for the official declaration.

However, the figures remain provisional. The colour-coded map and running totals do not constitute a declaration of the winner, as the final outcome rests with INEC after completion of the collation and verification process.

The 2026 contest pits incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of Accord against Bola Oyebamiji of the APC in what has emerged as a closely watched political battle in the state.

As the remaining results trickle in, Osun waits for the final word from the returning officer.
