Nigerians from all walks of life are praising the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, CON, SAN for transforming Nigeria’s aviation industry and restoring dignity to the airports and airspace.

President Bola Tinubu too, has noticed Keyamo’s effort and praises him for the tangible changes the Delta State born lawyer and politician has made in just 15 months.

“Thank You for Everything You Do for Our Country,” the President remarked in his birthday message sent to his minister.

On the account of his advocacy for social changes, human rights and democratic ideals, over the years, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, CON, SAN, FCIArb (UK) had attained global recognition and received awards and medals from several local and international bodies, including the Global Human Rights Award by the United States Global Leadership Council in Washington. The Honourable is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration in the United Kingdom.

In 2024, he was named the Best Aviation Minister in Africa by Africa Airspace Watch Initiative (AAWI). According to Johnson Lumumba, the prestigious award was in recognition of Keyamo’s exceptional leadership, innovative strategies, and outstanding contributions to the aviation sector in Africa.

His advent into politics is like the mustard seed that has become a political tree for progressives to build nests in its branches.

As a Federal Minister, with a critical responsibility to revive the once moribund aviation industry in Nigeria, his scorecards have earned him praises from stakeholders and most especially, the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu who has commended his administration’s ‘poster minister’ for his devotion to “duty and passion for service” which Mr. President hinged on Keyamo’s efforts in “strengthening the aviation sector to consistently deliver world-class service, safety, and performance.”

Nigerians have noted the progress Tinubu’s administration has made in the aviation sector in less than two years of Keyamo’s stewardship as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development. Among the big scores are the ratification of the Cape Town Convention for Aircraft Leasing, the commencement of lectures at the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), and the operationalisation of the National Flight Data Centre that the Tinubu administration designed to enhance the safety management system in the aviation ecosystem.

Apart from the praises the learned silk have received from his boss, president Tinubu, the industry watchdogs have also praised his commitment and dedication to the transformation of Nigeria’s aviation industry into one that is safe, efficient and customer-focused.
