The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed concerns over the health of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, insisting that he is in good health but needs adequate rest following an exhausting schedule of political engagements.

The party’s Deputy Campaign Spokesperson, Dr. Sam Omale, gave the clarification during an interview on Channels Television, explaining that Obi’s hectic movements and demanding political activities had taken a toll on his physical energy.

Omale said the former Anambra State governor remained energetic and deeply committed to his political engagements, often travelling between different locations within hours while simultaneously attending to several responsibilities.

Expressing amazement at Obi’s demanding schedule, he said: “Sometimes I wonder where he gets his energy from. He is in London today and the following morning in Enugu. I’m wondering how he does it. Exhaustion comes in; he is a human being.”

He, however, dismissed suggestions that the presidential candidate was battling any medical condition, stressing that his only challenge was physical exhaustion arising from inadequate rest.

“He is in perfect health. There’s nothing wrong with him. It’s just exhaustion, and we are trying to calm him down to take a sleep. He is fine,” Omale stated.

The NDC spokesperson further assured that Obi’s temporary exhaustion would not disrupt the party’s ongoing political activities or campaign programmes.

His clarification comes amid growing public interest in the health and physical well-being of presidential contenders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
