Edo: NANS Sets Up Panel to Probe Allegations Against Ambrose Alli University Vice-Chancellor

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has constituted a five-member investigative committee to examine allegations levelled against the Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Prof. Eunice Omonzejie.
The decision was announced in a statement dated August 5, 2026, and signed by the National President of NANS, Dist. Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, GCNS.
According to the student body, the committee became necessary following what it described as a “recent flood of allegations” concerning the administration of the university, as well as a formal petition submitted by former NANS President and former Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Student Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, MON.
NANS said the committee would objectively examine issues bordering on the university’s administrative management, procurement processes, financial management and the implementation of its digital transformation initiative.
While stressing that the allegations are yet to be verified, the association said they warrant an independent fact-finding exercise in the interest of students, institutional integrity and transparency.
The investigative committee is chaired by Comr. Okoh Sylvester, with Comr. Odiahi Thomas Ikhine serving as Secretary. Other members are Comr. Omojola Olusegun, Comr. Kenneth Jacob and Comr. Victor Ogechukwu Anthony.
According to the statement, the committee has been mandated to engage relevant authorities, investigate all issues surrounding the allegations and submit a comprehensive report containing its findings and recommendations to the NANS National Headquarters within one month.
“The constitution of this Committee is neither a declaration of guilt nor a validation of any allegation,” the statement read.
“It reflects NANS’ commitment to accountability and the protection of the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. We remain confident that the outcome of the Committee’s assignment will be impartial and will serve the best interests of students and Ambrose Alli University.”
The development comes amid growing public scrutiny of the management of Ambrose Alli University, with stakeholders calling for greater transparency and accountability in the administration of the Edo State-owned institution.
The outcome of the NANS investigation is expected to provide an independent student perspective on the allegations while potentially informing further actions by relevant authorities if necessary.
