Breaking: Elder Statesman Edwin Clark Dies at 97

Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), is dead. He was 97 years old.
His family released a statement announcing Clark died on Monday night.
The statement read, “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Senator Edwin Kiagbodo Clark OFR, CON on Monday 17th February, 2025.

The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family.”
Clark, an Ijaw leader and politician from Delta State, collaborated with the administrations of military governor Samuel Ogbemudia and head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, from 1966 to 1975.
In 1966, he served on an advisory committee to the military governor of the Mid-Western Region, David Ejoor, and was appointed Federal Commissioner of Information in 1975.
Reacting to the the news, Dr. West Idahosa, SAN wrote: “Adieu uncommon one! You fought for an ideal Nigeria all through your life. Even in very old age, you did not relent!
“Your trajectory on earth is a challenge to those you left behind to summon the courage to replicate your courage, just nature and equitable character.
“Your DNA was ingrained with fairness. Goodbye papa! Goodnight till we see to part no more.” Idaho State wrote in a shirt tribute sent to our newsroom.
