Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe Mourns Slain Gen Braimah, Suspends Campaign

The immediate past Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agric and Food Security, Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe has expressed shock, disbelief and sadness over the sudden death of Brig Gen O.O Braimah, who was murdered by terrorists in Borno State, yesterday, Thursday April 8, 2026.

In a statement made available to newsmen today in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Umakhihe noted that the death of the young and brilliant Officer who hails from Warrake community in Owan East LGA has left him in a state of “intense grief and devastation,” judging by the nature the Army General who was on national assignment was gruesomely killed on the line of duty.

Umakhihe also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Gen O.O Braimah, his twin brother, Mr. Alasah, Mr. Kash Braimah, a nd the larger Braimah family, the traditional ruler and the people of Warrake community, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Lawani, the Owan East APC Leader, and the Owan Nation at large, for this very painful loss. He assured the grieving families of his constant prayers and supplications to the Almighty for the repose of the soul of Gen Braimah, whom he noted was a worthy Ambassador of the Owan nation, who distinguished himself in his chosen career before this unfortunate incidence.

He prayed the Almighty to grant the soul of Gen Braimah the needed reprieve.

Meanwhile, as a mark of respect to the soul of the departed Gen O.O Braimah, the Owan Rep hopeful has directed that all campaign activities by his campaign team, regarding his aspiration for the Owan 2027 House of Representatives should pulse for 24 hours.
