The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded 4,445,505 million fresh voters across the 36 states of Nigeria, with Osun, Lagos, Borno, and Ogun States taking the impressive leads of 552,045,000; 488,523,000; 439,426,000 and 396,799,000 respectively.
The registration for new voters commenced across the country on August 18, 2025 and the exercise has witnessed high enthusiasm in some parts of the country but dismally poor in other parts—including Edo State.
As of Sunday, September 14, 2025, Edo managed to register 8,615 new voters, placing the state in the 33 position.
The trend has been interpreted by some members of the civil society organizations as “lack of confidence on the political process.”
