The campaign organisation of former House of Representatives member, Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, has called for peaceful, responsible and issue-based political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging supporters to shun personal attacks, inflammatory rhetoric and political violence.

The organisation, in a statement dated November 3, 2026, reaffirmed its commitment to campaigns centred on ideas, policy proposals, practical solutions and the capacity of candidates to deliver, rather than name-calling, mudslinging and the denigration of political opponents.

The statement, signed by the Head of Planning and Strategy of the Ogbeide-Ihama Campaign Organisation, Jeffrey Omoh Ozemegwa, said the campaign’s philosophy reflected the upbringing, family heritage and personal values of the former federal lawmaker.

It stressed that Ogbeide-Ihama would not sacrifice the principles and values upon which he was raised on the altar of political ambition.

The organisation noted that the former lawmaker’s two-term representation of Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives provided a strong foundation for his aspiration, citing his legislative experience, contributions, record in office and vision for Edo South.

According to the statement, the campaign would concentrate on presenting his achievements, communicating his manifesto and explaining what the people of Edo South stand to gain from his representation in the Senate.

It maintained that the electorate deserved to be engaged on the antecedents, ideas, policies and practical solutions offered by candidates, rather than being distracted by unnecessary political hostilities.

The campaign organisation consequently appealed to supporters, associates, volunteers and well-wishers to refrain from insults, personal attacks, inflammatory statements, mudslinging and violence.

It emphasised that its responsibility was to showcase Ogbeide-Ihama’s past performance in Oredo, articulate his vision and convince voters through the strength of its campaign message.

Describing its political approach as a campaign of ideas rather than insults, solutions rather than sentiments, and capacity and vision rather than character assassination, the organisation expressed confidence in the candidate’s record and called on all political actors to embrace issue-based engagement.

The statement concluded with an appeal for politics guided by values, respect and peaceful competition, declaring: “Let us focus on the issues. Let us sell the vision. Let our values guide our politics.”
