Kidnappers Struck Again, Abducts New Edo Line Passengers, Others

Tragedy struck today in Edo State when menacing, gun wielding kidnappers attacked one of the ‘New Edo Line’ commercial bus along Benin-Auchi road. The kidnappers who eye-witness reported were in their numbers, seized scores of passengers and other motorists before leading them into the forest.
The occupants of two other vehicles — a Sienna and Camry car were also taken away by their abductors.
The latest incident comes at a time the Government of Edo State distributed 300 motorcycles to the security operatives in the state to ease movement of personnel in Governor Monday Okpebholo’s determination to fight crimes and insecurity.
Earlier in his administration, Okpebholo had donated about 70 brand new Hilux trucks to the Edo State Police command, including the training of over 1000 Edo State Security Network personnel.
Recent reports of kidnappers in different parts of the state however puts the effort of Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika in serious doubt about his strategy to flush the invading kidnappers from the state.
At the time of this report, the poloce in a statement, reported that, 16 out of the 29 kidnapped victims have been ‘rescued’.
