Oba Ewuare Suspends Enogie Ohogua!

The Benin Monarch, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has suspended the Enogie of Uhogua, Osagumwenro Eki Eresoyen, from overseeing the community
in Ovia Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State.

Enogie Eresoyen removal was announced today, Thursday, November 23, via a press statement by the palace Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro.

According to the statement, his removal is sequel to a vote of no confidence in him, after reviewing allegations of misconduct and dereliction of duties against him.

The monarch has directed Ozukpogieva (second most elderly man) in Ohogua community, Omonuwa Moses, with the support of other elders, including Ohen-Ovia (priest), Festus Omorefe; the Ozukpogieha (third most elderly man), Isaac Osayande; and the Ozukpogiene (fourth most elderly man), Samuel Imaruagheru; as well as the Okaighele of Uhogua, John Ohiegbomwan, to administer the community on his behalf, pending the appointment of Odionwere (village head), in due course.

The Oba of Benin also enjoined the community uelders, who had asked for his intervention to protect them from their oppressors, to make peace and be law-abiding in discharging their duties, for the overall development of the area, in line with Benin customs and tradition.
