2027: Tinubu, Shettima Lead APC Campaign Council as Yari Emerges DG

The composition of the council was announced on Saturday in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy and Coordinating Director of Media and Strategic Communication for the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General of the council, while APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice Chairman.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary, with APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman serving as Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.

The President will be supported by a team of senior advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; former Ogun State Governor, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the South and North, alongside Senators Opeyemi Bamidele and Jibril Barau.

Former Edo State Governor and Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee Administration.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General in charge of Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

Faleke will coordinate the zonal election directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West; Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South; Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East; Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West; Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central; and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

Campaign Council list

Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were appointed secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.

The Legal Directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as Deputy Directors. Other members include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

The Media and Strategic Communication Directorate will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as Coordinating Deputy Directors, while Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor were named Coordinating Secretaries.

Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022 campaign, with Solomon Arowolo serving as Secretary of the directorate.

The council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the January 2027 election.

He also directed leaders of the various directorates to engage other party members who were not formally listed in the council, stressing that their contributions would be critical to the campaign.

Tinubu said his administration had fulfilled its campaign promises and placed the country on the path of economic progress.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” the President said, urging members of the campaign team to confidently highlight the administration’s achievements and inspire hope among Nigerians.

He further charged the council to ensure that the APC defeats what he described as forces seeking to take the country backwards.
