The Analogy of Organizations and My Perspective on The Best Way Forward
By Samuel Ogbemudia Jnr.
When an establishment has challenges, serious problems of debt, poor sales, poor revenue, those at the top echelon of that organization must go back to the drawing board or do what they call self examination. Yes, self examination is imperative.
Firstly listen and thereafter analyse what the critics are saying about your product. Find a solution to those criticisms.
Don’t wave those criticisms of ones product aside, study and analyse those criticisms and thereafter find a solution. For example, if they say, your salesman collects 20% bribe for buying one litre of bottled water.
Brainstorm and possibly come out with the solution of allowing your salesman to pocket 10% of the sales. Thereafter, do what they call performance evaluation, in other words, stick to the plan or the budget.
Make sure if the target for the salesman is to sell 100 bottles/ daily, let it be so and as such, allow the salesman have his 10% commission.
At any time, the salesman doesn’t meet up with the 100 bottles sales/daily. Checks & balance or reevaluate the sales strategy, that will put your product back on the sales course.
The quickest way to destroy or should I say, self destruct ones organization is by waving aside so called little issues or problems or ignoring problems.
Don’t ignore problems, otherwise those problems will become unsolvable problems. Find solutions for those problems, now now now. Not later.
Never allow a gathering storm of problems destroy your organization.
Reorganisation or restructuring is another way of getting solution to ones problem. But bear in mind, while restructuring or reorganizing make sure, the issue of continuing the project is done, otherwise you’ll find yourself spending double or quadruple on the same project.
Change of personell or reshuffling personell can be positively productive if only before replacing a personell, one, already has a replacement for that personell. Leaving a vacuum in the production line, will leave one, with a halt in production.
All said and done, one can only get ones project, plan, product back on a positive line by doing, self examination.
Go back to the drawing board and correct all the ills, all the negativity on the product line. All the negativity on the issues of debt, poor sales, poor revenue etc. In the meantime, apologize to all asundry that one has offended in the process of poor production.
By apologizing, one gives the opportunity for reconciliation and thereafter moving forward with smooth production.
Please, finally, beware of blackmailers, liars (Those that will lie about the raw materials required to produce the plastic bottle)
Those that will concoct lies against fellow employees. Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Thanks and Godbless Nigeria!
