Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki was conspicuously absent in this year’s International Okpekpe Marathon Race in Edo North.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole who originated the Athletic Tourism event, took the centre-stage with his remarkable sterling performance at the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race.

The presence of the two term governor added colour to the event and showed his consistency for community engagement.

Oshiomhole ran alongside professionals and local athletes and showcased his endurance and fitness

He endorsed the event, praising its role in promoting health, unity, and tourism.

“The Okpekpe Road Race is a celebration of our community and progress,” Senator Oshiomhole stated.

The 2024 Okpekpe Race, with Oshiomhole’s enthusiastic participation, continues to shine as a beacon of athletic excellence and community spirit in Nigeria.

The event was however boycotted by the governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and many have described his failure to identify with the international event as “miss opportunity” for tourism promotion.
