We have re-investigated our lead story of Sunday 20th October with the beadline: “Edo Last Minute Fraud Bonanza, How AG Uzzi, SUBEB Chairman Salami Changed Bank Mandate to Withdraw N100m for Rodents Eradication Program in Primary Schools.”

Our new finding shows that Mr. Oluwole Osaze Uzzi, the Honourable Attorney General (AG) of Edo State was wrongly tagged as Accountant General (AG) of Edo State in the said story.

No doubt, our reporter misinformed himself with the details provided by the source of his story. It was an avoidable error, not malice against Mr. Uzzi who we hold in high esteem.

However, in our traditional of fair hearing, we provided a right of response and defence to the Honourable Attorney General, Oluwole Osaze Iyamu before the story was published, but we have been rightly informed that he could not respond because of his engagement in church and the the short notice.

Being that as it may, the Administrator of our Website has since purged the story (as it relates to AG Mr. Uzzi) from our server, and as such, the story as it relates to him is irretrievable.

In our subsequent story, we shall publish the story to reflect the update on the transaction between ‘Accountant General’s Office’, Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

This error is regretted as it does not reflect the person of the Attorney General and the careful treatment we give our investigative stories.

The Editorial Board of Midwest Herald tenders this unreserved apology to the Honourable Attorney General, Mr. Oluwole Osaze Uzzi for the embarrassment caused to him by wrongfully labelling him as the Accountant General of Edo State, who approved the said SUBEB’s request for a letter to a bank for change of signatories mandate.
