I Didn’t Step Down For Asue Ighodalo

One of Edo State Governorship aspirant, contesting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, Mr. Felix Ehiguese Godsent Akhabue, aka Joefel as denied stepping down for Mr. Asue Ighodalo who is Governor Godwin Obaseki anointed aspirant.
Akhabue denial is contained in a statement he issued earlier today and made available to Midwest Herald Community Newspaper.
The statement titled ‘Making the Matter Straight’ reads: “My Dear people of Edo State and PDP faithful, as you are aware, we the PDP aspirants from Edo Central were invited for a meeting at Chief Tom Ikimi’s residence for screening on the 4th and 6th January 2024.
“I couldn’t attend the one for 6th January because I had earlier told the committee on the 4th that I was going ahead with my governorship aspiration.
“However, I was told that some aspirants withdrew from the contest and some others begged for time to consult further.
“I, Hon (Dr.) Felix Ehiguese Godsent Akhabue, JP, aka, Joefel is proceeding with my aspiration and the Edo 2024 Governorship contest, and I will be traveling to the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday 10th of January 2024 to purchase my “Expression of Interest and nomination Forms.
“Before I entered the governorship race, I have consulted widely, and the contest is beyond me now to withdraw midway, and I want to assure my party leaders, supporters, and friends that I am the Aspirant to beat in this race and the chosen one in God’s Grace France Divinely.
“I wish to let you all know that I will not let you down, and I seriously believe that it is God that gives power and in him alone I trust, just as I had earlier informed the screening committee.”
There are also flashes of statement that Mr. Marcus Onobun has denied stepping down for the former Sterling Bank Chairman, Ighodado. Midwest Herald is unable to reach Onobun to verify his denial.
