Members of the Obedients Movement in Edo South senatorial district has threw their weight behind the candidacy of Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the State.

Midwest Herald reports that members of the movement pledged their support for the APC gubernatorial candidate during a solidarity visit to the senator in Benin City.

The coordinator general of the movement in the senatorial district, Comrade Ikhuenbor Felix Igbinevbo, said they are supporting the APC governorship candidate for the election because of his antecedents and closed ties with the people.

Igbinevbo, opined that Obidients Movement are lovers of good governance, fairness and accountability.

According to him, we supported Peter Obi, the labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in 2023 election because we felt it was the turn of Igbos.

“And in Edo, it is the turn of Esan and we need the most qualified candidate that will work for everybody in the state and not stranger”,he said.

In his remarks, the APC gubernatorial candidate, Monday Okpebholo urged the people of the state to punish the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his candidate with their votes for under performance.

“if they have done well, I would not have contested. I urged you to punish them with your votes because if you leave it for them, our unborn children will suffer,”he stated.

He also promised to surpass the achievements of the governor Godwin Obaseki’s-led administration in the first year of his administration.

He, however, lauded the movement for the support, and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him when voted into power.
