Fallout of Edo Governorship Election: PDP Chairman Aigbodion Denies Stealing Election Materials
By Correspondent
David Okoh Aigbodion, aka Arizona, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in Owan West Local Area of Edo State, who was accused of stealing BVAS and other election materials, belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission, has denied stealing or disrupting last Saturday September 21 in the state.
The man in the eyes of the storm, made his denial via a telephone call to Midwest Herald newsroom yesterday.
Aigbodion explained that, he had never met the PDP man that confessed on camera that the bag containing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was dumped in his house by him.
“Please can I see the video of Ojo who allegedly mentioned my name please.
“Here is the video of the unit, the copper PO, APO 1 and APO 2 are here in Owan West for further verification if I was the one who stole the BVAS.
“Every body knows that thugs actually disrupted the process, no doubt. Who sent the thugs is the question.
“Do you have the video where I stole election material before writing that rubbish against my person?” David Okoh Aigbodion, aka Arizona charged.
Aigbodion assured that he had video recording of the violence that took place in his Ward 3, Unit 9 and promised to make it available to Midwest Herald.
“I have a recorded video evidence of all that transpired that day, Which I will unveil soon.” However, the PDP chairman failed to produce any video as at the time of this report.
Rather, the troubled politician resorted to threats, and gave Midwest Herald six hours to remove an earlier story that reported the confession of a PDP faithful who Aigbodion identified as Ojo.
“I gave (sic) you 6 (six) hours to remove that post, or else you will hear from my lawyer.
“He didn’t know one of my daughters is a journalist. You people should keep writing.” The destructed man popularly called Arizona wrote in one of his several messages sent to Midwest Herald.
It will be recalled that we have earlier published a story on a self-confessed PDP member who narrated in a video how David Okoh Aigbodion, aka Arizona, the chairman in Owan West Local Area allegedly dumped stolen election materials in a private residence.
In a video sighted by Midwest Herald, a middle age man (name withheld) was seen holding a ballot box containing ballot papers, ink stamp, BVAS machine and other items that he claimed were hijacked from Ward 3, unit 9 by Aigbodion aka Arizona and some cultists that accompanied him, and subsequently dumped the bag in his house. The man also pleaded profusely to the PDP chairman to take back the stolen items.
