The Edo State government has congratulated Governor-Elect Senator Monday Okpebholo and his Deputy Governor-Elect, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on their recent electoral victory.

The Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration made its position known at the Edo South APC victory rally held in Benin City, yesterday October 8, 2024 through the Deputy Governor of the state, Comrade Phillip Shaibu who expressed gratitude to the people of Edo for their making their choice peacefully during the September 21 gubernatorial election.

Shaibu highlighted the significance of the outcome, stating that it demonstrated the citizens’ confidence in Okpebholo and Idahosa’s glaring leadership qualities.

The deputy governor while emphasising unity and collaboration, urged the people to come together in support of the new administration, which assured is committed to addressing the needs and aspirations of all Edo citizens.

It will be recalled that, Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes to beat his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The action of Edo State Government marks a collaborative example in the anals of democracy in Nigeria.
