Edo South Senator Imasuen Inspects Benin-Sapele Road, Commends Umahi
The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Mr. Neda Imasuen has praised the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi for the quality of work done so far on the dilapidated Benin to Sapele road section in Edo State.
Senator Imasuen made the remark after his unscheduled visit to the construction site to assess the progress of the work done so far, we he expressed satisfaction.
“I am pleased to report that the progress from Ologbo to Obayantor village is outstanding and unprecedented. The thickness of the concrete, the 20 mm reinforced, vibrated concrete foundation casting demonstrates durability that will stand the test of time.” Imasuen remarked.
He added that: “On October 1st 2023, a tanker truck carrying a full load of petrol overturned in the Ologbo community within Edo South Senatorial District, Edo State.
“In the ensuing rush to gather the spilling fuel, a fire ignited, resulting in a massive inferno and tragic loss of lives.
“The Senate addressed this incident, along with the troubling loss of lives across the nation. Through a resolution passed unanimously, the Senate condemned these occurrences and urged the federal government to address the deplorable state of our nation’s roads.
“Subsequently, the Honorable Minister of Works, HE David Umahi, was summoned to the Senate, where he pledged to address the concerns raised. Following the incident, the minister conducted an on-site assessment at Ologbo.”
Senator Imasuen explained to Midwest Herald that he was informed by the site engineer of the construction company, that “…the current project covers the stretch from Obayantor village to Sapele, while another company will take over the section from Obayantor to Benin City.”
Concluding, he praised the Engr Umahi – “On behalf of myself and the good people of our Senatorial District, I commend the Honorable Minister, Senator David Umahi, for a job well done.”
