EFCC Keeps Vigil in Yahaya Bello’s Abuja Home Over 84bn Fraud

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have cordoned off the residence of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, in Wuse, Abuja.
According to Sahara Reporters, this action follows days after Bello’s meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House.
The siege, witnessed on Wednesday, effectively restricted movement around the house situated on Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4.
Sources confirmed the blockade, indicating no access for both entry and exit
While the exact reason for the EFCC’s presence remains undisclosed, it is speculated to be linked to the ongoing N84 billion fraud case against Bello.
The charges, brought forth by the EFCC, allege misappropriation and diversion of state funds, amounting to N80 billion, before Bello assumed office in September 2015.
Additionally, the EFCC had earlier arraigned Bello’s nephew, Ali Bello, for alleged money laundering involving N10 billion belonging to the state government.
The State Government has vehemently refuted the allegations, labeling them as baseless and politically motivated.
Despite the charges, former Governor Bello remains at large, according to the EFCC. Ali Bello and Dauda Suleiman, co-accused in the case, have both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Reliable sources told Midwest Herald that the anti corruption agency has compiled the various petition sent by different groups against some of the governors that will complete their tenure in few months time.
