Earl Osaro Onaiwu Mourns Herbert Wigwe, Wife, Son

The Former Director-General of the Nigeria’s Governors Forum, Dr. Earl Osaro Onaiwu has described the news of the death of Mr Herbert Wigwe, his wife and son as one that fills his heart with deep sorrow and profound disquiet.

In a statement he personally signed and was made available to the National Update, he indicated that Wigwe was not only a banker par excellence but also a true gentleman who left an indelible mark on the banking industry and the lives of those around him.

Earl Onaiwu explained further that he shared a bond of friendship with Mr. Wigwe spanning over three decades. “They maintained a close relationship and had a heartfelt conversation just a day earlier unaware that it would tragically be their final exchange.

“I am devastated to learn of Mr. Wigwe’s sudden demise. Our friendship stood the test of time, and his passing leaves an immense void in my life. Our last phone call, where we discussed personal matters, was filled with laughter and warmth. Little did I know that it would be our final conversation. The news has left me heartbroken,” expressed Earl Onaiwu.

“Mr. Wigwe’s contributions to the banking industry were exemplary, and his dedication to the development of our nation was unmatched.
“His professionalism, leadership, and outstanding character will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a rising star in the banking sector in Africa.

According to him, the passing of Mr Wigwe, his wife and son is not only mourned by those close to him but also deeply felt by the entire banking industry and all Nigerians. His absence leaves a void that will be difficult to fill.

Earl Onaiwu therefore encouraged everyone to honor Mr. Wigwe’s memory by upholding the values of integrity, dedication, and humility that he embodied throughout his remarkable career.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wigwe family during this dark hour. May they find strength, lean on cherished memories, and may Mr. Wigwe’s soul and that of his dear wife and son rest in eternal peace.
