Confusion Grows in Edo PDP as Gov Obaseki Allegedly Appoints State Chairman, Aziegbemi as Special Adviser

The drama and crisis confronting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State may have defied all political arrangement, as Governor Godwin Obaseki, yesterday allegedly appointed the party’s State Chairman, Mr Tony Aziegbemi, as his Special Adviser Political (Esan North East/Esan South East Local Government Areas).
According to the letter sighted by Midwest Herald, the backdated letter of appointment which was allegedly signed yesterday December 1, 2023, by the Secretary to Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq, informed the State party chairman that he is expected to draw “all the remunerations stipulated in the Political and Public Officers Emolument Law, 2007.”
Tony Aziegbemi’s appointment letter reads:
“I am to inform you that the Governor of Edo State, His ExcellencyGodwin Nogheghase Obaseki has approved your appointment as Special Adviser Political (Esan North East/Esan South East) with effect from November 11, 2023.
“By this Appointment, you are entitled to draw all the remunerations stipulated in the Political and Public Officers Emolument Law, 2007, which makes provision for the emolument of Elected Political Officers, Political Appointments and Public Office Holders.”
