President Bola Tinubu has been described as president of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The assertion was made by the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed who is also the chairman of PDP Governors Forum, where the embattled Rivers State governor Simi Fubara is vice chairman.

Bala Mohammed told the press that Tinubu has intervened in the crisis rocking the executive and the legislature in Rivers, which was capable of dividing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state.
The chairman of PDP Governors Forum, informed the State House Correspondents when himself and other governors emerged from a closed-door session with Tinubu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja yesterday October 31, 2023.
“We had a closed session where very serious national issues were discussed that has serious security implications.
“That is the problem emerging in Rivers.
“The president in his usual leadership position intervened and then it will appear that there will be peace in that respect.
“He has showed that he is a president for everybody.
“A president for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a president for the All Progressives Congress (APC) by intervening today and bringing succour and solace to the people of Rivers.
“On behalf of governors in states controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) I extol the leadership qualities of Mr President.

“I congratulated him (Supreme Court Verdict) and expressed appreciation that PDP governors that had gone through tribunals emerged victorious. We know that is leadership,’’ the PDP Governors Forum Chairman said in his defense of the invitation to Tinubu to intervene in the crisis in the Rivers State chapter of the PDP.
Mohammed also extolled Tinubu as a great leader who did not use his big hammer to “extricate or to emasculate opposition.”
And “We found this very good and going forward we pledge that we are going to work with him to bring good governance to the people of Nigeria,’’ he added.
The governor also gave pass mark to the judiciary in their conduct and the way and manner the courts have been dispensing justice under the leadership of President Tinubu.
“There is professionalism in the conduct and the way and manner the judiciary is working under his leadership,’’ Mohammed stressed.
According to a source who was at the meeting, Tinubu had singled out the Rivers State governor during his meeting with the governors to discuss national security matters and told him that, he has been watching the drama in his state. The president blamed Fubara for encouraging a breakdown of law and order in his state.
Midwest Herald learnt also that Fubara pleaded with President Tinubu to intervene on his behalf. Later in the day, the Rivers governor met with the president with the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike in attendance, to understand the root cause of the growing disagreement.
Tinubu we are told, allegedly reprimanded Fubara for acting out too early as a ‘betrayal’. Fubara was also reminded of the consequences of his action, just as he pointed to the fate of those that have acted in similar manner.
While on his kneels, Fabura pleaded to the president for his intervention to mend his relationship with the FCT minister.
It was agreed that at an agreed date, the embattled governor will lead his supporters and elders to pay visit to Nyesom Wike in his country home to demonstrate his sincerity.
Our investigation also revealed that, the protest in Port Harcourt may have been sponsored by supporters loyal to the former minister of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi. This angle is believed to have led to the anticlimax end to the pro-Fubara series of events in the last 48 hours.
