The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of failing to pay party staff for more than 12 months, questioning the party’s ability to manage Nigeria’s affairs if elected into power.

The council, in a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, and signed by its spokesperson, Dele Alake, alleged that the ADC National Working Committee, led by Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as Secretary, had neglected the welfare of its workforce.

The APC council described the alleged non-payment of salaries as unacceptable, arguing that party employees who report to work daily should not be left without the income they depend on for their livelihood.

It said the allegation raised questions about the ADC’s promises to Nigerians and its claims to offer an alternative to the current administration.

The statement also criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, whom it described as the ADC’s presidential candidate, alleging that his businesses had previously faced complaints over unpaid staff salaries.

According to the APC council, workers at Gotel Communications and other businesses associated with Atiku had experienced months without pay and had staged protests over outstanding salaries and other benefits.

The council also revisited Aregbesola’s eight-year tenure as governor of Osun State, accusing his administration of poor financial management and failure to meet its obligations to workers and pensioners.

It alleged that the administration introduced quarter-salary and half-salary payments for public servants and that pensioners went for more than four years without receiving their full entitlements. The APC council further claimed that the situation caused severe hardship among retirees, some of whom allegedly died after being unable to afford basic necessities.

The council linked the allegations against the ADC leadership to what it described as a broader concern about the party’s capacity to manage public resources and protect workers’ welfare.

“A party that aspires to govern Nigeria and which cannot be trusted with something as basic as the management of its own affairs and the welfare of its workforce should be rejected by Nigerians,” the statement said.

The APC council urged Nigerians and organised labour to scrutinise the ADC’s record and leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It also called on voters to reject Atiku Abubakar and other ADC candidates, alleging that the party’s leaders were driven by personal political interests rather than the welfare of Nigerians.

The allegations were contained in a statement issued by the APC Presidential Campaign Council. The statement did not include a response from the ADC leadership, Atiku Abubakar or Aregbesola to the claims of unpaid salaries and the criticisms of their respective records.

The controversy places the management of party finances, payment of workers’ salaries and the treatment of public-sector employees among the issues likely to feature in political debates ahead of the 2027 elections.
