Tinubu Flags Off 125km Benin-Asaba Road Reconstruction, Road to be Tolled on Completion

After series of failed promises by previous administrations, President Bola Tinubu last Sunday March 23, 2025, officially flagged off the reconstruction of the 125-kilometer Benin-Asaba Highway to the admiration of a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
The oproject which is estimated to cost N225Bn, will be funded through Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) between the federal government and a pool of private investors. When completed, the Benin-Abraka road will be tolled by the investors to recoup their investment.
The president who was represented by Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, assured that the project, which is set to be completed in 30 months, will significantly boost trade and economic activities in the Niger Delta region.
He emphasized that the highway construction will enhance transportation efficiency between Edo and Delta States.
The Benin-Asaba Route is a 125km Highway, stastarting from AIF Roundabout (Benin) to Summit Junction (Asaba) which serves as a major link between the south-East, South-South and some parwith Benin and Asaba t being the capital of Edo and Delta States respectively.
