In the evolving dynamics of Edo State politics, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presently stands at a decisive moment.

The dominant party, remains a force in Nigeria and in the state, but must find a methodology to deal with internal fissures, leadership rivalries to avoid electoral setbacks.

Yet, amid the silent grassroots political differences, there remains a voice of experience, discipline, and strategic acumen capable of restoring cohesion and direction — that of Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole.

The former governor of Edo State and current senator representing Edo North is no stranger to political storms.

From his days as the fiery president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to his transformative eight-year tenure as governor, and later as national chairman of the APC, Oshiomhole has consistently demonstrated a rare ability to unite divergent interests and mobilize people around shared goals.

His brand of leadership — bold, pragmatic, and people-driven — could once again be the stabilizing force the Edo APC urgently needs.

Today, the party faces challenges that go beyond mere electoral competition and victory. It confronts questions of trust, coordination, and ideological clarity. Local and ward chapters are divided; critical stakeholders are disengaged; and many of the party’s loyal grassroots supporters are uncertain about its vision going forward.

In such a climate, what is required is not just organizational restructuring, but a reawakening of purpose. Oshiomhole’s political experience offers that bridge — a tested capacity to balance power dynamics while keeping the broader goal of governance and service delivery in focus.

His return to active state politics through the Senate provides Edo APC an opportunity for mentorship and reorganization. Having traversed both state and national platforms, Oshiomhole brings an understanding of how to harmonize party structures — aligning local realities with national strategies.

His voice carries the authority of experience, and his political capital extends across the divides of Edo North, Central, and South.

But stabilizing the Edo APC cannot be a one-man affair. Senator Oshiomhole’s influence, though vital, must be matched by a collective willingness among party leaders to bury personal ambitions for the larger interest of the party’s revival. Reconciliation, inclusiveness, and the return to issue-based politics should be the focus. The party must also rebuild its grassroots machinery — reconnecting with communities, youth, and traditional institutions that once anchored its strength.

In an era where political loyalty is increasingly transactional, Edo APC needs a leader who can inspire conviction, not convenience. Oshiomhole’s record of delivery and his ability to communicate directly with the people still resonate.

His re-engagement with state politics, if guided by wisdom and a unifying purpose, is needed to reposition the party ahead of future elections.

Ultimately, political stability is not achieved by rhetoric but by results — by fostering trust, fairness, and internal democracy. Senator

Oshiomhole has both the moral authority and institutional memory to guide Edo APC toward this path. What is needed now is for stakeholders to rally around him, not as a messiah, but as a mentor — one whose political experience can turn the party’s current disarray into a disciplined, focused movement once again capable of winning hearts, minds, and elections.
