Sports Development: Senator Imasuen Set to Unveil Benin Unity Football Tournament

All is now set for the commencement of a football tournament that has been designed to promote peace, social development and health in Edo State, and in particular, Edo South Senatorial District.

Tagged — Benin Unity Football Cup, the tournament is on the auspices of Benin Summi Group (BSG) and sponsored by Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, Chairman Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition.
According to the sponsor, his mission is to “..forge unbreakable bonds of unity among the communities of Oredo, Orhionmwon, Ikpoba-Okha, Uhunmwonde, Egor, Ovia South-West, and Ovia North-East, and to scour the distric for its hidden football talent.

“This is not just about football; it is about US,” declared Senator Imasuen in a statement. “It is about bringing our communities closer together. It is about finding the hidden Messi and Ronaldo in our streets and villages!”
Senator Neda Imasuen is billed to unveil the competitive Benin Unity Cup, as a sensational grassroots tournament that is set to ignite “passions and unearth the next generation of sporting heroes from across the district’s seven Local Governments with a press conference at the Media Centre, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, on Friday, 24th October 2025, at 11:00 AM.
There after, the Local Organising Committee will release details of the fixtures, tournament format, and the glittering trophies and price money that the teams will battle for.
Sports enthusiasts have expressed confidence that the tournament will set the local sports scene abuzz.
The tournament promises to be a melting pot of raw talent and local pride, with each LGA fielding a team to compete in what is anticipated to be a fiercely contested spectacle. The initiative has been hailed as “spectacular” in community engagement and employment that is capable box directly investing in the district’s youth and social cohesion by providing a prestigious platform for athletic excellence.
