A former governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North Constituency, His Excellency Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has won the prestigious Thisday/Arise News Senator of the Year Award. The ex-governor defeated other three senators to win the trophy along with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi State.

Oshiomhole emerged from the keenly contested draw due to his inspiring contributions on the floor of the Nigerian senate. The award underscores the strides the Edo North Senator has made, which have attracted national and international attention.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris presented the award shield to Oshiomhole. In his response, he thanked the organisers for keeping the Thisday brand and for recognising Nigerians who have made impact on the society.

“So, to those reporters, to those workers behind the scene, to those distributors on the road side, calling Oshio-baba when they are hawking Thisday newspaper, they deserve to be remembered on occasion like this.

“Nduka, may God continue to use you to lead the ways others will follow. I am excited, I am delighted.

“Thank you for the honour and congratulations on your 30th anniversary. God bless you, God bless Nigeria.” Oshiomhole said.

Senator Daisy Danjuma and Delta State Governor Sherrif Oborevwori received lifetime achievers award and governor of the year respectively.
