Senator representing Edo South senatorial district, Neda Imasuen has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, describing his passing as a painful loss to Edo State and the nation at large.

In his tribute, Senator Imasuen said Arase was a quintessential officer who served with uncommon dedication, professionalism and honour, leaving behind a legacy that will long inspire both the Nigeria Police Force and the larger society.

“During his tenure as Inspector-General of Police, he introduced bold reforms that strengthened the Force, from the establishment of the Complaint Response Unit to his tireless defence of citizens’ rights. His name became synonymous with courage, professionalism and visionary leadership. His death is not only the close of a glorious chapter but a moment of collective grief for all Nigerians,” Imasuen mourned.

The Senator also lauded Arase’s philanthropic impact through the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation (SEAF), which provided scholarships for brilliant but indigent students, particularly the children of fallen police officers.

“On behalf of the good people of Edo South, I extend heartfelt condolences to the family of our departed son. We share in your pain and pray that Almighty God grants you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Edo and Nigerians have lost an officer and a gentleman,” he said.
