Senator Neda Imasuen Felicitates Prof. Ize-Iyamu on Appointment as UBTH’s First Female CMD

The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Neda Imasuen, has congratulated Professor (Mrs) Idia Ize-Iyamu on her emergence as the first female Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the 52-year-old University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
Senator Imasuen described her appointment as a historic milestone and a testament to her exceptional dedication, competence, and service to humanity. He noted that Prof. Ize-Iyamu’s remarkable journey in the institution, which began in 1997 as a Junior Registrar, has been characterised by unwavering commitment and excellence.
“From rising to the position of Honourary Consultant in 2005, to serving for over eleven years as Head of Department, Professor Ize-Iyamu has earned the respect of colleagues, students, and patients alike for her integrity, deep institutional knowledge, and results-oriented leadership,” Senator Imasuen added.
He further commended her outstanding role as a teacher and mentor who has nurtured and inspired generations of doctors, many of whom are now consultants and distinguished practitioners in top medical institutions across the globe.
“Her emergence as CMD is a beacon of inspiration to women and a well-deserved recognition of her decades of hard work, professionalism, and impact. I have no doubt that under her leadership, UBTH will attain even greater heights,” the Senator concluded.
