In a press release announcing the ‘Free JAMB Registration’ program, Senator Neda emphasized that, “…this initiative underscores his dedication to fostering educational opportunities and supporting the aspirations of young people.”

The statement added that, eligible students “are encouraged to reach out for more details through Princess Julia at +234 906 663 0294 or Derick Uhumwagho at +234 806 361 8488.

“Take advantage of this opportunity to bring your academic dreams closer to reality. Help spread the word!” Neda added.

In a related development, Nigerians have applauded the Edo South Senator for consistently defending the interest of the less privileged in the society.

This is as a result of the decision by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions to condemn the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over the Delta State Tragic Shooting, and the demand Justice for Victims.

The committee headed by Senator Imasuen, had in December 2024, condemned the NDLEA over the tragic shooting incident that claimed the life of a two-year-old, Onosereba Omhonria, and left his one-year-old brother, Eromonsele, fighting to save his eyesight.

The incident occurred on July 13, 2023, in Asaba, Delta State, when NDLEA operatives opened fire while the children were with their mother in her shop. Onosereba succumbed to his injuries at the Federal Medical Center in Asaba, while Eromonsele according to report, now requires urgent medical intervention abroad to restore his sight.

The victims’ father, Mr. Fidelis Omhonria, alongside legal counsel from Matthew Edaghese & Co., petitioned the Senate committee, demanding justice, accountability, and ₦2billion in compensation to cover the loss of their child and Eromonsele’s medical expenses.

But the NDLEA’s offer of ₦25million in compensation sparked outrage among lawmakers. Imaseun described the amount as grossly inadequate and demeaning.

“A two-year-old is dead, his younger sibling is battling to save his eyesight, and all you’re offering is ₦25 million?

“That is callous,” Imaseun said. He stressed the irreplaceable value of a young life and the irreparable trauma inflicted on the family.

Rising from their sitting, the Senate Committee resolved to work closely with the House of Representatives to ensure that the family of the victims receive fair compensation and that the NDLEA is held accountable.

Senator Imasuen’s demand for accountability and fair treatment for ordinary Nigerians is noteworthy, just as it should send a strong message on the need for reform and the protection of citizens’ rights.
