The stage is set for a far-reaching healthcare intervention in Edo South Senatorial District, as Senator Neda Imasuen unveils the 2026 edition of his annual Medical Outreach, a three-day programme designed to provide free, comprehensive medical services to residents across all seven local government areas.

A statement issued by his Media Aide, Moshood Karim Tuesday, explained that the programme is billed to run from Saturday, February 21 to Monday, February 23, 2026.

The initiative underlines the lawmaker’s sustained commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, with a focus on early detection, prevention, and treatment of common and life-threatening conditions.

Organised by the Office of the Senator, the outreach will offer a wide range of medical services, including breast cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, prostate cancer screening, blood pressure checks, malaria testing, eye examinations, and blood sugar level assessments.

Medical personnel will be deployed across designated centres to ensure that residents receive professional diagnosis and treatment free of charge.

The programme will be held simultaneously in all seven local government areas within the district. Residents of Ovia South West are to converge at Iguobazuwa Health Centre, while those in Ovia North East will be attended to at Okada Health Centre.

In Egor Local Government, services will be available at the Health Centre, while Ikpoba Okha residents are to visit Idogbo Town Hall. For Oredo Local Government, the venue is Urokpota Hall, while Eyaen Health Centre will cater to residents of Uhunmwonde. In Orhionmwon Local Government, the exercise will take place at Abudu Health Centre.

Encouraging widespread participation, Senator Imasuen urged constituents to take advantage of the free services, stressing the dangers of self-medication and the importance of seeking proper medical attention.

The lawmaker emphasised that health is a fundamental aspect of human wellbeing, referencing scriptures such as Matthew 9:12, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:31, and 1 Timothy 5:23, which highlight the necessity of medical care and the role of physicians in society.

“Residents should not trivialise their health or resort to self-medication. It is important to seek proper diagnosis and treatment from qualified medical professionals,” he said.

Testimonies from beneficiaries of previous editions have continued to highlight the impact of the initiative. A resident of Ovia South West, Osamudiamen Osagie, recounted how she benefited from the 2025 outreach after suffering persistent eye irritation.

“When I saw the announcement last year, I decided to participate because I had constant itching in my eyes. I was diagnosed with conjunctivitis and treated. Today, I am free. I am grateful to Senator Imasuen,” she said.

Similarly, Pa David Amadasun from Oredo Local Government revealed that his participation in last year’s outreach led to the early detection and successful treatment of prostate cancer.

“When I attended the outreach, it was discovered that I had prostate cancer. I received treatment and today I am healthy. I thank Senator Imasuen for his kind-heartedness and urge other politicians to emulate his good works,” he stated.

The 2026 edition is expected to build on the successes of previous outreaches, reaching thousands of residents and reinforcing the senator’s health intervention drive aimed at enabling constituents to live productive and fulfilling lives.
