Senator Imasuen Partners Edo South Journalists, NUJ Federated Chapel Ahead 2027 Elections

Senator Neda Imasuen’s path to a second term in the Senate, has received a major boost from journalists under the Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, and the Edo South Journalists Forum, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
The journalists gave the assurance after an incisive deliberation on a seamless collaboration ahead of the 2027 general election.
Rising from a courtesy visit to the senator’s residence in Benin City, the groups resolved that Imasuen deserves the media partnership given his record of performance in less than two years.
Facilitator of the media parley, Comrade Edosa Okunbo, told Senator Imasuen that the initiative was designed to ensure that, Edo South produced a “ranking senator” capable of attracting greater development to the district.
“Our task is to promote Edo South leaders who has delivered real dividends of democracy. Senator Imasuen has done just that,” he stated.
On her part, the Chairperson of the Federated Chapel, Mercy Onyenweli, pledged full media support for the senator’s quest to return to the r3d chambers post 2027.
Former Edo State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Orobosa Omo-Ojo JP, urged journalists in Edo State and across the nation to highlight Imasuen’s achievements, which he explained are very foundational to the human capital development and Local Economic Development of Edo South people.
He listed the projects to include rural electrification in over 200 communities, facilitation of federal appointments, provision of clean water projects, agricultural support for farmers, scholarships, payment for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board examination exam (JAMB) and empowerment schemes for artisans and traditional birth attendants.
Responding, Senator Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, thanked the visiting journalists for their solidarity, stressing that his re-election would consolidate the experience he had gained in the National Assembly.
“Ranking is not just a title. It determines influence, the committees you chair, and the development you can attract home. Edo South must not miss this opportunity,” Imasuen stressed.
Reflecting on his leadership style, the senator noted that he preferred results over self-promotion. “Politics demands you spend more on advertising achievements than delivering them. But my record speaks for itself,” he remarked.
Imasuen, who emphasised his legislative achievements and commitment to accountability, appealed for continued media partnership to amplify his efforts and counter political misinformation.
