There is a renewed hope and high expectations in Edo State, especially amongst the people of Edo South, as the news of Senator Bernard Neda Imasuen’s imminent defection to the All Progressivea Congress (APC) spreads like harmattan fire.

Across the 77 wards of the seven local government areas, community leaders, including politicians have received what started as rumour with excitement, so much so that Senator Imasuen’s residence in Benin City, Oredo Local Government Area has become a political ‘Mecca’ recently.

Midwest Herald investigation revealed that, the agitation by political and community leaders for Imasuen’s defection to the APC cuts across political, religion and cultural lines.

Midwest Herald also gathered the enthusiasm during Imasuen’s recent tour of his constituency where he briefed stakeholders across the seven local governments areas of his half term reports. They urged him to join the political mainstream to fast track and attract rapid development to Edo South people.

A source confided in our reporter that, Senator Imasuen had already briefed President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of Labour Party and the APC of his readiness to join the APC and contribute to the president’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

The Labour Party in Edo State has also given Imasuen the greenlight to join the APC. A prominent LP leader told Midwest Herald that Senator Imasuen visited the ‘Elders Council’ yesterday in Benin City to seek their support for his decision to join the APC.

“Yes, the rumour is true. Neda was with us today (Wednesday June 4) to inform us that he was moving us into APC. We understand and we are ready to go with him,” the septuagenarian told our reporter.

In one of the town hall meetings held in Idokpa, Uhunmwode local government area, all the Okaigheles praised Senator Imasuen and pledged their support for him in his future political decisions.

Mr. Steve Ekhabure who spoke on behalf of Idokpa community, thanked Imasuen for his exemplary stewardship.

Odionwere Imagbenikaro who is the head of all Odionweres in Uhunmwonde and Odionwere of Ehor, praised Imasuen’s effort and echoed the Okaighele’s endorsement of his service to Edo South people.

Barring any last minute change, Imasuen may defect newest week, June 12 to symbolize the struggle for self political actualization.

In all, what is evidence is the desire of Edo South people to return Senator Bernard Neda Imasuen to the 11th senate where he can become a ranking senator.
