Owie Lands New Job!

Else Owie
Circuits, the continent’s leading virtual cinema and digital entertainment streaming platform, has announced the appointment of Ese Owie as advisor to The Bench, its distinguished advisory council.
Circuit has rapidly established itself as Africa’s foremost entertainment hub, delivering millions of unique streams across every continent.
Its fast-expanding library spans the best of Nollywood, Francophone, and East African cinema, made available globally via web, mobile, and smart TVs.
The platform has validated a breakthrough business model by ensuring Nollywood producers continue to earn beyond initial licensing fees, sometimes even without theatrical release, demonstrating the long-tail value of African content.
Beyond film, Circuits curates a vibrant spectrum of cultural programming, from comedy shows to live-streamed events, including the debut broadcast of Ayo Makun’s (AY) Easter Sunday show.
Owie’s appointment underscores Circuits’ ambition to solidify local networks, deepen its pan-African footprint, and scale internationally.
With more than twenty-five years of leadership across corporate finance, trade policy, market intelligence, taxation, and public governance, he brings a wealth of expertise and deep networks to the platform.
Owie is executive chairman of Numelec Africa Holdings, a leading healthcare solutions company which operates in 38 African countries.
He previously served as Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service and was a member of the Edo State Executive Council, where he shaped policy and governance at the highest level.
International trade lawyer with a D.Phil. in Public International Law from the University of Oxford, an LLM (with distinction) from the University of Hull, and an LLB from the University of Benin, he has cultivated strong global networks across governments, corporations, and development institutions.
He is also a professor of International Law and Policy at EUCLID (Pôle Universitaire EUCLIDE/Euclid University) and holds visiting fellowships at the University of Essex Law School, United Kingdom and the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
He recently completed the Foundry Fellowship at the MIT Kuo Sharper Centre for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship, which recognises Africa’s leading entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders.
Mohammed Sedik, Associate Vice President at Circuits, welcomed the appointment:
“Dr. Ese Owie’s global expertise and network will be instrumental as Circuits continues to expand its pan-African reach and global scale.
His appointment reinforces our mission to broaden cultural representation, create economic opportunities for African creators, and redefine how global audiences experience African entertainment.”
In his remarks, Owie expressed deep enthusiasm: “I am honoured to join The Bench at this pivotal moment. Circuits has already redefined the future of African entertainment, and I look forward to leveraging my resources and networks to help accelerate its impact across the continent and beyond.”
With Owie on The Bench, Circuits is poised to amplify its cultural offerings, accelerate key initiatives, and continue shaping the future of pan-African digital entertainment.
