Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party, has voted in the ongoing controversial local government election in his state, even as he called on residents to cast their votes without fear of intimidation, urging political stakeholders and the electorate to avoid violence during and after the elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that, Governor Adeleke voted in his unit for chairman and councillor of his choice in the state’s ongoing local government elections.
Adeleke voted at about 7:56 a.m. at Unit 9, Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area.
NAN reports that the governor arrived at the polling unit in the company of his supporters and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Adeleke commended the State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for the peaceful process of conducting the elections.
The governor advised residents to cast their votes without fear of intimidation, urging political stakeholders and the electorate to avoid violence during and after the elections.
Adeleke expressed confidence that all PDP candidates would emerge victorious in the elections.
“I want to urge everyone to come out and cast their votes. The election will be peaceful,” the governor assured.”
Midwest Herald had earlier reported that the election will go ahead as scheduled, despite the Appeal Court judgement the reinstated the elected council chairmen and councillors that were sacked by Adeleke.
The governor has also ignored the legal advice by Lateef Fagbemi, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, insisting that the AGF cannot constitute himself to a law court.
