The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, yesterday November 28, 2025, confirmed that terrorists are moving closer to the South West Nigeria.

He also revealed the details of the meeting of the Southern Governors Forum with traditional rulers in Iperu-Remo, the country home of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Noting that the intelligence gathering available to the traditional throne has shown a steady movement of terrorists in the region.

Ooni however assured that the region was ready to confront the terrorists and that they would be chased away.

The respected traditional ruler made the assertion in a live television programme on Channels Television, ‘Politics Today.’

Oba Ogunwusi stated that the summit was designed to stem the tide of insecurity occasioned by armed banditry and insurgency ravaging the country.

The monarch added that the South West region would face the evaders headlong and send them back.

On the question if he had discovered the movement of terrorists in the South region, the Ooni said, “Yes, we have discovered that, and that’s the truth, and that’s the reason why we’re coming together.

“We are enforcing and strengthening our local guards; we are very strong. We, traditional institutions, we’re very strong when it comes to that.

“And this current government has already worked and declared that they will work with the local hunters. We have forest guards now; they’re very efficient.

“We don’t joke with them. We’re going back to our ancestral roots.

“So, for us, we are facing it headlong. We have intelligence information. They are coming closer to us, and we’re going to send them back.

“It has happened in the past. In the 18th Century, in the 17th Century; we have actually done that. We’ve never been conquered, and it’s not going to happen again.”
