Obaseki, Ighodalo Don't Have Edo Interest in Mind...They Came To Do Business - Tenebe

On Saturday July 12, 2025, the Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Edo State, Emperor Khalifa Jarrett Tenebe was interviewed by TVC on the outcome of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, that confirmed the election of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of Edo State.

Below is the extract…

How do you feel about this judgement?

Well, it all started at the tribunal and the three judges to give us judgment.

The appeal court also gave judgment, and now, the five Supreme Court judges also gave the unanimous judgement in our favor.

What it means is that one million flies cannot be wrong in eating shit.

They were right and we are happy and the entire Edo State is happy over the judgement.

The PDP is not happy about the judgement what is your reaction?

If you alleged, the burden of proof is on you to proof. If you say election was earned through violence, irregularities, you must prove beyond reasonable doubt that what you are alleging actually happened. They were unable to prove these allegations.

They challenged the election in the entire state and they were only able to call five witnesses.

You cannot be calling five witnesses and you brought BVAS and you dumped them. You make fake results and shot screen them and brought them to court and they were unable to prove their case and unable to prove the irregularities.

You particularly have been accused of bringing thugs to the court. Is the storm over at the moment?

There was no day I brought thugs to court. All those were allegations that were unfounded.

The courts were peaceful, the lawyers had the opportunity to argue their case without any hindrance, they could not prove their case so you can’t blame anybody for that.

They had all the chances to prove the irregularities they were claiming but they were unable, so I didn’t bring any thug to the court.

The legal battle is over, so what developmental project are we seeing for the past eight months of the governor in the state?

The day he was sworn in as the governor of the state, he hit the ground running. The second day he flagged off the fly over in Ramat Park, and he flagged off many other roads in the state.

You have seen his approach to security, he purchased a lot of vehicles for the security agencies to curb insecurity in the state.

Recently he has trained about 1, 800 able body men to also help the security agencies in curbing crime in Edo State.

Talk of agriculture, you saw the number of tractors he distributed to farmers. Also, several acres of land have been cleared for farmers for farming.

Soft loans are being given to farmers who are ready to farm.The reason he tackled security is to enable farmers go back to their farmland without any harassment by these criminals.

He is building roads all over the state, the entire state is happy with what the governor is doing.

It is because of developmental achievements that is making all the PDP members to be joining the APC today. You can see that the speaker of the House with almost all his entire members have joined the APC.

What is the plan of the governor to ensure he brings everybody along to work for the success of Edo State?

When we talk of bringing people together I am sure it is only Obaseki and Ighodalo that are remaining to bring together.

The governor is a peace loving person and I am sure he has been doing this since he was sworn in as governor.

I am sure bringing Obaseki and Ighodalo in is not actually difficult. But if somebody defeats you in the tribunal, court of appeal and the supreme Court, I think it is proper you congratulate that person.

But they did not do that, which means they don’t want to join hands to build Edo. Which means they don’t have Edo in mind they just came to Edo to do business.

God helped us to make sure we have Senator Monday Okpehbolo as governor, well we will still make efforts to see how we can bring them in, but if they are not ready that is their luck

How is the governor fighting the issue of cultism in the state?

As at the time he came in, young people were killing themselves. So he took bold steps and when you are traced to be a cult member and traced to your house that house will be destroyed.

He sponsored a bill to the State House of Assembly to reinforce the fight against Cultism that assumed worrisome level during the tenure of last administration. That action has reduced cultism drastically in Edo State.
