The just concluded bye-election in Edo State for Edo Central Senatorial District and Ovia Federal House of Representatives Constituency, won by the ruling All Progresaives Congress may have signified the control of the state by Governor Monday Okpebholo and the APC.

The results that was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), gave victory to Mr. Joseph Ikpea to replace Senator Okpebholo and Ms. Omosede Igninedion to conclude the less than two years remaining term of Mr. Dennis Idahosa who is now deputy governor in the state.

Arising from the massive victory, the APC chairman in the state, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe is however angry that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was unable to provide sufficient resistance during the election.

Speaking shortly after the declaration of the APC candidates as winners, Tenebe said that he was unhappy with the PDP weak resistance because his party overprepared for the contest.

“Am so disappointed because we were very prepared for this election only to get to the field and PDP were nowhere to be found.

” As early as 10am, they have collapsed and nobody to fight. That is the reason am so sad.

“But the good thing is that, the turnout was so large. The outcome is a clear indication that the people are happy with what Senator Okpebholo is doing in the state. People are also happy with what President Bola Tinubu is doing in Nigeria, that is the reason for the large turnout.

“Today, the outcome has confirmed that the PDP, LP and ADC have totally collapsed in Edo State.

“The governor is doing well, the president is doing well, and it is very clear that come 2027,the 2.5million votes that we promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is guaranteed and that is what has been fully approved today in Edo State.

” I want to thank all Edo people that supported us in this election. I want to thank all APC family and congratulate them. For this victory.”
